Level Up Your Runs: Introducing the Ranch Sorting Cow Counter App
When you cross the time line and the announcer calls your starting number, everything else fades away. It’s just you, your partner, your horses, and ten numbered cows. But as any ranch sorter or team penner knows, the adrenaline of the pen can sometimes make tracking the next number a challenge—especially when you are trying to read a fading white number on a fast-moving steer while keeping your horse in position.
Whether you are running practice pens at home, hosting a local jackpot, or just trying to drill your mental game, keeping accurate track of the herd is essential. To make that easier, we’ve built the Ranch Sorting Cow Counter, now available to download right to your phone.
Built for the Pen
We built the Ranch Sorting Cow Counter to be a simple, intuitive mobile tool designed specifically for the sorting community. It replaces the old leather tally counters with a clean, digital companion that doesn't require any logins or data collection. Instead of relying on a friend shouting from the fence or trying to keep track in your head after a blown assignment, you now have an app in your pocket to track the cattle sequence in real-time.
Why You'll Love It
Perfect for Practice: When you are drilling at home, you need your focus on your horsemanship and your partner's positioning, not on remembering if you are looking for cow number 4 or cow number 5.
Easy, One-Handed Use: The interface is straightforward and distraction-free, featuring an optimized layout that makes it easy to operate quickly, even if you are sitting in the saddle holding the reins in one hand.
Great for Spectators and Announcers: If you are helping run the gate or announcing at a local practice, this counter takes the pressure off. You can easily tap through the progression to keep everyone in the arena on the same page.

We believe that better tools make for better runs, and this app is designed to help you and your horses get the most out of every single trip to the herd.
Ready to put it to the test? The Ranch Sorting Cow Counter is available right now for your mobile device.
